چکیده

Dispersion in porous media is currently an important subject that occurs in different domains (processes, environment, oil recovery...). We have used the nuclear magnetic resonance, and more precisely the Pulsed Field Gradient (PFG-NMR) techniques to characterize this phenomenon. A PGSTE sequence (Pulsed Field Gradient Stimulated Echo) is used to measure longitudinal and transversal displacements of water in packed beds of PMMA beads 75-90 μm in diameter. In unsteady state, the propagator formalism is used to measure average velocity and also longitudinal and transversal dispersion coefficients. Mots clefs : coefficient de dispersion, milieux poreux, propagateur de diffusion, RMN,

Combination of Time-Dependent Self-Diffusion Measurements (Dynamic Imaging) with Magnetic Resonance Imaging

To characterize the pore space of porous media, observation time-dependent selfdiffusion measurements are of particular interest. The determination of the ratio of inner surface-area to pore volume S/Vp and the tortuosity T of porous media is possible applying these methods, which are summarized under the term “Dynamic Imaging” (DI). Parameters as the permeability or an average particle diamete...

Noninvasive bipolar double-pulsed-field-gradient NMR reveals signatures for pore size and shape in polydisperse, randomly oriented, inhomogeneous porous media.

Noninvasive characterization of pore size and shape in opaque porous media is a formidable challenge. NMR diffusion-diffraction patterns were found to be exceptionally useful for obtaining such morphological features, but only when pores are monodisperse and coherently placed. When locally anisotropic pores are randomly oriented, conventional diffusion NMR methods fail. Here, we present a simpl...

Study of dispersion by NMR: comparison between NMR measurements and stochastic simulation

Dispersion remains, today, a highly topical subject. Our group has been interested in characterizing this phenomenon by pulsed-field-gradient NMR technique. Direct measurement of the dispersion coefficient can be done with a Pulsed Gradient Spin Echo (PGSE) sequence by assuming that the asymptotic regime is reached. In unsteady state, the propagator formalism is used. To better understand these...

Pulsed-field-gradient measurements of time-dependent gas diffusion.

Pulsed-field-gradient NMR techniques are demonstrated for measurements of time-dependent gas diffusion. The standard PGSE technique and variants, applied to a free gas mixture of thermally polarized xenon and O2, are found to provide a reproducible measure of the xenon diffusion coefficient (5.71 x 10(-6) m2 s-1 for 1 atm of pure xenon), in excellent agreement with previous, non-NMR measurement...

Three-dimensional analytical models for time-dependent coefficients through uniform and varying plane input source in semi-infinite adsorbing porous media.

In the present study, analytical solutions are developed for three-dimensional advection-dispersion equation (ADE) in semi-infinite adsorbing saturated homogeneous porous medium with time dependent dispersion coefficient. It means porosity of the medium is filled with single fluid(water). Dispersion coefficient is considered proportional to seepage velocity while adsorption coefficient inversel...
